Feel It In The Air!- Tailgatin  At  Its Finest!—2018 United Way NCM City wide Tailgate…

Citywide Tailgate is a competition held each year between businesses for the title of Best Citywide Tailgater. This community wide event is one of many activities presented by United Way of North Central Mississippi (UWNCM) during its 2018 Campaign.  With a philosophy of “Stronger Neighbors make a strong community, the campaign is on a mission to ensure every member of the UWNCM’s  communities are Full, Fit & Literate

Benefits from fundraisers like Citywide Tailgate support 15 agencies in the four-county area and UWNCM programs. These local community agencies strive day in and day out to create a better life for all of our neighbors. Come support them while celebrating the Mississippi State Bulldogs, the Starkville community, and the tailgating tradition.

Sponsoring Citywide Tailgate this year are the Greater Starkville Development Partnership, James "Cubby" Harris Painting Co., BankFirst Financial Services, Watkins Ward & Stafford, PLLC, Roberson Law Firm, Town and Gown, and Starkville Daily News. Sponsorships are still available.

The theme for Citywide Tailgate is “Tailgating at Its Finest”: If you are a business in Starkville, you can compete to be "best of the tailgaters" this year by signing up to be a tailgater now. You don't have to be a business directly in the tailgate zones to participate. Partnering with a business located in one of the areas is encouraged.

There are 4 zones. In the downtown area between City Hall and Bancorp South on Main Street/University Drive and adjoining streets ; and between LPL Financial to BankFirst on Lampkin Street. Zone 5 is Hospital Road, upper Russell Street and Academy Road/Louisville Street area.

Any business, school, university, or civic group should complete an application to participate. The application can be picked up and turned in at the United Way office at 300 University Drive, 3rd floor of Regions Bank; or by emailingunwayokt@maxxsouth.net ; Judging will begin 11:00 a.m. and end at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 2nd. Each area will be judged based on the following: use of theme, best tasting tailgate food, and best presentation. Awards will be given out to the Best in Zone (5 zones), Best NEW Tailgater, and the Best Citywide Tailgater.  Ambassadors from the Greater Starkville Development Partnership will be the judges.

Come join us for the best lunch party ever on November 2nd! Cheer on the Dawgs to beat the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and enjoy good food, good music, and good fun.
