Sponsored by the United Way of North Central Mississippi and numerous community partners, the “United We Feed” project is held in during the fall and winter months each year.

The project is aimed at helping to restock local food pantries operating in Oktibbeha, Winston, Webster, and Choctaw Counties.

The project involves the following:

  • A multi-week canned food/boxed food drive to help restock local food pantries following the Christmas season and provide a supply of food  to meet their needs for the foreseeable future.

  • During the food drive, multiple collection points will be established around the community, with volunteers making regular pickups. They will transport it to the central location being used for the clearinghouse. Collection points include local grocery stores, churches, schools and some downtown locations.

  • All food collected is sorted and inventoried at the central location/clearinghouse.

  • Cans, buckets and large water cooler bottles for monetary donations will be placed at the various “United We Feed” collection points and at other locations around town to generate additional funds.

  • The 2018 United We Feed saw more than 18 tons of food collected and distributed to 21 food pantries, 3 school feeding programs, the Salvation Army, Casserole Kitchen participant and one church-affiliated after-school backpack program.
